What changed
Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1736 of 14 July 2026, published in the Official Journal and in force since 15 July 2026, cited 6 of the 8 standards under mandate M/604 for the digital product passport (DPP) under the ESPR (Regulation (EU) 2024/1781). EN 18246 (data authentication and integrity for the DPP) and EN 18239 remain outside that citation; the CEN-CENELEC vote on EN 18246 closed on 16 July 2026, with publication expected around September 2026.
Who is affected
Economic operators implementing the digital product passport's data carrier who depend on a standardised data-authentication mechanism.
What to do
Monitor the CEN-CENELEC JTC 24 published-standards page before finalising DPP data-authentication implementation; do not assume EN 18246 is already available.
Related deadlines
- September 15, 2026. Expected publication of EN 18246 by CEN-CENELEC (the DPP data authentication and integrity standard).
